About The Position

The Music Teacher at Western Hills Elementary School is responsible for facilitating student learning through music education. This role involves providing music instruction, particularly in choir, and creating a conducive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of students. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in music education required; master's degree preferred.
• Arkansas certification in vocal music is required.
• Evidence of piano pedagogy and piano skills necessary for student performances.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to quality desegregated education.

Responsibilities

• Provides music instruction through the choir.
• Creates appropriate choir performance experiences for students enrolled in the choir.
• Provides reasonable music support for school assemblies.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs of the students.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy.
• Assists administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
• Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order in a fair manner.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
