About The Position

The position involves assisting with the direction of all school band performances, which includes marching band, concert band, jazz band, soloists, and small ensembles. The role requires establishing performance requirements, enforcing academic requirements, and verifying each student's eligibility to participate in band. Additionally, the position entails providing opportunities for band participation in both curricular and extracurricular events, such as concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, TMEA, and UIL activities. Arrangements for transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events must also be made, while ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, State and Local Board of Education policy, and UIL rules governing band participation. Evaluative findings, including student achievement data, will be used to determine program effectiveness and ensure continuous program renewal that responds to student needs. The position also involves planning and using appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students. Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned.
  • Direct and manage the overall program of instrumental music for the school(s) assigned.
  • Advanced typing skills of 60 wpm.
