The St. Olaf Orchestra Manager position is a part-time student employment opportunity at St. Olaf College, located in Northfield, MN. The primary purpose of this role is to assist the St. Olaf Orchestra with various logistical aspects related to rehearsals and concerts, while also providing leadership as a member of the St. Olaf Orchestra Council. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication skills to ensure smooth operations during rehearsals and performances. The manager will be responsible for setting up chairs, stands, and instruments for weekly rehearsals, as well as scheduling and supervising student crews for both on-campus and off-campus events. Additionally, the manager will manage communication between the Music Organizations staff, Music Department staff, the conductor, and ensemble members, ensuring that everyone is informed and coordinated. The role may also involve driving the college-owned truck for on-campus performances and assisting with auditions as directed by the conductor.
