About The Position

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements: Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters. Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN). Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester. Federal Work Study student may apply. Lead small weekly classes, drop-in groups and 1:1 instruction for students aged 10-18 in a youth-development program. Help youth express themselves through music and movement. Lesson plans and teaching support are provided by an on-site supervisor who is usually a Berklee alum. These sites’ full time Music Clubhouses are aimed at introducing kids to music, production and performance by providing basic lessons, studio time, rehearsals, theory, and mentorship to youth in the Boston area.   • Availability at least 2-3 weekday afternoons/early evenings a week.

  • Passion for performing arts and community involvement is a MUST.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with urban youth and experience in various genres including r/b, jazz, pop, Latin, and World Music.
  • Ability to teach basic music theory concepts to youth.
