About The Position

The Music Library and Broadcast Intern position at WXXI offers an opportunity to combine technical knowledge and creative interests in a collaborative environment. The intern will work with both the WXXI Classical radio department and the WXXI Engineering department, assisting in the transfer of a physical recorded music collection to a fully digital/file system, along with related database management, audio file maintenance, and metadata. This hands-on training will provide the intern with greater knowledge of music cataloging, broadcast automation, file management systems, and the technical skills necessary to support a media organization.

Requirements

• Undergraduate student currently enrolled in a college program
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to take direction and multi-task
• Self-disciplined with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
• Good attention to detail, ability to creatively solve problems
• Experience with Microsoft Office, database entry, and other basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

• Radio or broadcast experience

Responsibilities

• Converting CDs to digital files and transferring them into the ENCO file system
• Assist in the design, building, and documentation of new systems as well as modification of existing systems to meet new requirements
• Assist with other related engineering duties, as assigned
• Submit a final written report at the end of the internship
