About The Position

This position is responsible for: Plans, coordinates, and directs the functions of the School of Music program; ensures the quality of programs and safety of youth at all times; provides guidance and role modeling to youth and ensures safety and a positive experience for the students.

Requirements

• Six (6) months experience teaching music education and teaching experience, with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Nice To Haves

• Valid Driver’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality music instruction to students.
• Teaches music theory as it applies to the appropriate level for playing purposes.
• Provides appropriate lessons for instruction time.
• Be responsible for the care of instruments during class, with necessary repairs immediately reported to the Youth and Music Evangelism Director and/or Corps Officers.
• Prepares students for recitals and concerts.
• Recommends and develops activities which will develop musical abilities, motor and learning skills of students.
• Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students, which will create an atmosphere of friendliness and security during all program periods, enabling all students to feel welcome and comfortable.
