The Music Director at Huntersville ARP Church is a part-time position responsible for implementing the Session-approved music ministry under the direction of the pastor(s). This role involves leading congregational singing, encouraging participation to enhance the volume of singing, and fostering a growing knowledge of a diverse range of tunes. The Music Director will supervise both employed and volunteer musicians, assist in teaching new Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, and select well-known and loved music to be incorporated into worship services. Approval for music selections must be obtained through the Session. In addition to leading congregational singing, the Music Director will also choose, teach, and lead handbell choir pieces and develop instrumentalists, soloists, and ensembles for regular participation in worship services. The role includes assisting the pastor(s) in planning worship services, participating in special services such as weddings and funerals, and developing a children's music ministry in conjunction with the Discipleship committee. The Music Director will provide musical information for bulletins, plan and direct special musical services, and coordinate concerts with outreach and discipleship committees. The position requires regular rehearsals, oversight of equipment maintenance, participation in staff meetings, and attendance at Session meetings for feedback on musical direction. The Music Director will also have the opportunity to attend approved worship and musical conferences and provide an annual report of their work and plans. This role requires a commitment to the Reformed Faith and a sense of call to music ministry, ideally with a degree in music and experience in directing church choirs.
