About The Position

This position supports the new and innovative Heartstrings Music and Art Therapeutic Program at Children’s Hope Alliance. This position will be located mainly at the Heartstrings Program Building in Statesville, NC. Additional locations include local community sites, Iredell Statesville Schools, and other CHA service program locations.

Requirements

  • The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must have music or art proficiency, and the ability to read music, play and teach a variety of musical instruments OR the ability to create and teach visual art in a variety of media (painting, drawing, mixed media, crafts, photography, etc.).
  • Requires effective communication, decision making, analytical, interpersonal, leadership and professionalism skills and abilities.
  • Must have basic computer and math skills.
  • Must have a valid North Carolina’s Driver’s License and be able to travel to multiple local locations.
  • Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug screening, criminal, HCPR and driving checks.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience teaching music or art with children/teens preferred.
  • Experience working with at risk youth preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create lesson plans and provide individual, family, and group music or art classes for Heartstrings participants.
  • Create lesson plans and provide music & wellness/art & wellness programs for individuals, families, and groups at Heartstrings, with community partners, and with Iredell-Statesville Schools CHA Day Treatment and Pre-K classrooms.
  • Meet weekly with the Heartstrings Program Manager and complete required trainings.
  • Work cohesively with other members of CHA programs, Iredell Statesville Schools, and other community partners to insure the most appropriate and highest quality care and instruction is given to the children and families served.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, communicating, and overseeing additional music, art, and program events as needed.
  • Evaluate the need for and coordination of a music or art therapy internship program at Heartstrings.
  • Coordinate and implement annual participant music recital and art show.
  • Actively recruit, engage, and develop music and/or art program volunteers.
  • Provide program class and event information monthly for reporting purposes.
  • Assist with distributing monthly surveys as needed.
  • Maintain instrument & class supply inventory and instrument maintenance lists.
  • Assist with program electronic documentation and maintenance.
  • Provide class and event content for CHA social media channels with required media release documentation.
  • Provide team support for Heartstrings classes and special events.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Utilize CHA approved applications and other electronic resources as needed.
  • Develop and present music or art presentations for internal and external audiences.
