About The Position

Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually to experience the beauty of our gardens, the richness of our decorative arts collection, and the lasting legacy of Marjorie Merriweather Post. Our mission is to share our founder’s vision and foster a greater understanding of the arts and cultures that shaped her world. The Museum Teacher supports Hillwood’s Interpretation team by delivering educational programs for school and youth audiences, including onsite and virtual programs. This as-needed role supports year-round programming and is scheduled based on program demand. Working collaboratively with the Head of Youth Audiences and teams across Interpretation, Visitor Services, Facilities, and Security, the Museum Teacher helps ensure programs are welcoming, engaging, and smoothly executed.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching or working with K–12 students in formal or informal educational settings.
  • Strong communication skills and an engaging teaching presence.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a public-facing environment.
  • Interest in museum education, history, art, or cultural institutions.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, as scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver onsite and virtual educational programs for school and youth audiences.
  • Lead guided tours and hands-on activities designed for K–12 students and Girl Scout troops.
  • Serve as an educator and representative of Hillwood while working with visiting groups.
  • Support program setup, delivery, and breakdown as needed.
