About The Position

Join the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum team for the summer! The Iowa 80 Trucking Museum is a nonprofit organization located on the grounds of the World’s Largest Truckstop, Iowa 80! We are seeking a self-motivated, outgoing, and ambitious student for a Summer 2026 Museum Internship. This opportunity is great for an individual who is looking to start a career in Museum Studies after graduation. We want the time and energy you spend with Iowa 80 to have a positive impact on your education and future as you evolve into a professional after graduation! We are looking for a friendly, driven individual who is open to experimentation and learning on the go! This role will be instrumental in making the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum experience come alive for our guests. Our ideal candidate for this role has a passion for museums, artifacts, and their stories. This position will work closely with many departments and handle a variety of projects, including but not limited to social media content generation, displays signs and banners, and gift store merchandising.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a college Fall 2026, majoring in Museum Studies and/or Marketing.
• Must be available Monday-Friday (40 hours per week), with some extended hours during events that include weekends.
• Must be able to work with a team and individually.
• Must be willing and able to demonstrate a creative mindset and attention to detail.
• Must have excellent writing skills.
• Proficiency in Office Suite required.
• Basic Adobe Photoshop experience is a plus but not required!
• Must have familiarity with social media outlets including but not limited to TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
• You must have the permanent, legal right to work in the U.S. We do not sponsor visas.

Responsibilities

• Research antique trucks on display
• Write and edit long form content on archival materials.
• Coordinate and oversee design of Iowa 80 Trucking Museum informational exhibit signs and stands.
• Assist with editing of information residing on the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum app
• Assist in creation of display vignettes to enhance visitor experience
• Assist with event preparation and coordination for the 2023 Truckers Jamboree
• Assist in tracking participants’ satisfaction with programs and museum displays
• Photograph trucks, events, artifacts and displays as needed
• Catalog artifacts as needed
• Develop visitor engagement activities from idea to implementation.
• Generate social media content in various forms.
• Special projects assigned with a final presentation to management team and fellow interns.
