About The Position

The Klamath County Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Outreach Coordinator to oversee our educational programs and foster community engagement. This role focuses on enhancing local history resources for Klamath County students, coordinating volunteer efforts, and collaborating with local organizations. Reporting to the Curation Manager and Museum Director, the position offers an opportunity to shape impactful educational experiences and promote the Museum's mission.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in museum studies, Education, or a related field.
• Previous experience in education, museum programming, or community outreach is highly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills for diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to create engaging content and design interactive visitor experiences.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Current Oregon Driver's License.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 30 pounds.
• Must be available for occasional evening and weekend events.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the liaison to local schools to encourage student and classroom participation with the Museum system.
• Develop and implement educational outreach programs for schools and community groups.
• Plan and execute special events, workshops, and presentations for diverse audiences.
• Oversee volunteer and docent programs, including orientation, training, and scheduling.
• Collaborate with the Klamath County Historical Society and other local organizations to organize programs and events.
• Create and lead engaging educational programs tied to exhibitions and exhibits, utilizing the Museum's teaching collections.
• Develop creative marketing and social media campaigns to increase public awareness of Museum activities.
• Assist with program evaluation and implement feedback tools such as surveys.
• Occasionally substitute in other roles, such as reception duties.
