About The Position

The Museum Learning Specialist leads the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of high‑quality onsite and virtual homeschool programs, adult group learning experiences, and other out‑of‑school education initiatives that support JYF’s strategic goals. This position provides daily supervision, coaching, and training for Learning Facilitators and other staff, ensuring clear communication, strong performance, and excellent visitor engagement. The Specialist manages program logistics and communication for homeschool audiences, including scheduling, outreach, partnerships with homeschool organizations, and coordination with Marketing and internal stakeholders. They also design, evaluate, and revise educational programs and training materials, advocate for homeschool needs during program planning, and help advance new ideas that enhance program impact and revenue potential. The role regularly delivers programs, maintains high evaluation scores, supports a culture of reflection and continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with JYF and DHRM policies.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated skills in supervising and mentoring a diverse staff
  • Ability to motivate team members to develop programming and training that furthers strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult training methodology, interview, and evaluation techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of staff, volunteers, and the general public
  • Skilled in presenting education programs to diverse student audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate programming based on visitor impact
  • Ability to develop, implement, and revise inquiry based and dialogic education programs
  • Knowledge of museum education techniques and resources
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to think critically and work effectively in individual and team settings
  • Experience in development and implementation of student lessons/activities
  • Experience in museum education program development
  • Knowledge gained from coursework, preferably in history, anthropology, museum studies or education beneficial to this role.
