The Museum Educator at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for diverse audiences, including K-12 students, families, and community members. This role serves as the primary liaison between the museum and local schools, ensuring alignment with educational goals and state standards. The Museum Educator also oversees the docent program and provides administrative support to the Director of Education, contributing to the museum's mission of fostering learning and creativity.

  • Develop and implement educational programs for K-12 students and community members.
  • Oversee the docent program, including training and managing volunteers.
  • Instruct K-12 post-tour sessions, studio classes, and community workshops.
  • Align museum resources with educational goals and state standards.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Education, including travel arrangements and program logistics.
  • Associate's Degree and three years of relevant work experience, or Bachelor's Degree and one year of relevant work experience, or five years of related experience with a high school diploma.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse audiences and use computers for word processing and data management.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, art education, museum studies, or a related field.
  • Experience managing a docent or volunteer program.
  • Familiarity with state and national education standards, including Common Core and NGSS.
