About The Position

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center is seeking two seasonal Museum Educator II's to assist preschool teachers and engage students in arts-based programming. This role involves working with K-12 students and preschoolers, facilitating participatory tours, and supporting various educational activities at the Arts Center and Art Preserve. The position is part-time, ranging from 10 to 15 hours per week, and will conclude by mid-June.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Some college preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in customer service, education, or museum required.
• Background in visual or performing arts is helpful.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Flexible and adaptable to change.

Responsibilities

• Assist preschool teachers in the classroom for 3.5 to 4-hour shifts two or three days per week during the school year.
• Implement education department standards to facilitate participatory tours for K-12 field trip students and preschoolers.
• Engage in play and artmaking with students, tracking and managing them throughout the day.
• Collaborate with lead teachers and program director to coordinate annual student performances and exhibitions.
• Work 2 six-hour shifts in the Social STUDIO, greeting guests and sharing information about exhibitions.
• Facilitate hands-on activities connected to current exhibitions and assist visiting artists in residence.
• Prepare workshop materials and assist in workshops, camps, and classes.
• Help clean up and organize materials for school tours, preschool classes, and public programming events.
• Complete mandated safety training and maintain knowledge of current exhibitions and collections.
