Museum Community Service Officer's (CSO) are part-time student employees of the Oakton College Police Department and Koehnline Museum of Art that perform the following duties: Protect exhibits, staff, and visitors by regularly patrolling the museum and museum entrance, inspect doors/windows for security issues, manage visitor entry/exit, ensure visitors follow museum policies (no touching art, no unauthorized photos) and intervene if rules are broken, respond to alarms, medical incidents, and other emergencies, provide directions, answer questions, and guide visitors during evacuations, document incidents, security breaches, and unusual activities. In addition, some clerical duties such as maintaining files and records, processing forms, gathering and organizing documents, and typing and photocopying documents; answering telephones, monitoring cameras, responding to general inquiries regarding museum programs, and routing specific calls to appropriate personnel; attending museum events to assist with crowd control.
