Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years' experience in a visitor or public welcoming setting desired.
• 1+ years of administrative assistant experience desired.
• 1+ years of gallery, museum, or security experience desired.
• Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with diverse clientele.
• Keen attention to detail and surrounding activity.
• Proficiency in basic data management systems and computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Willingness to learn additional applications as needed.
• Ability to work weekends, evenings, on-call, and other non-traditional schedules.

Nice To Haves

• College courses related to art history preferred.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor galleries to provide security for works of art.
• Ensure visitors do not touch or endanger works of art.
• Welcome visitors and provide information related to exhibitions and general inquiries.
• Answer museum telephone, take messages, and forward calls as necessary.
• Keep track of museum attendance.
• Perform various duties and tasks as requested by supervisor or director.
• Provide a welcoming, friendly environment for museum visitors.
• Provide administrative support including word processing, spreadsheets, and clerical work.
• Facilitate sales of exhibition catalogues and posters.
