About The Position

Ability to monitor the MUSE system to maintain the highest level of performance. Required to act as a MUSE technical resource for personnel requiring information about the system’s capabilities and limitations, and make any needed corrections in MUSE. Works with Managers to establish and maintain up-to-date, user friendly departmental MUSE and EKG policies that are in compliance with Accrediting Organization, IDPH, and other accrediting agency standards, including downtime and troubleshooting procedures. Site administrator for MUSE Produces and reviews daily, weekly and monthly system reports utilizing MUSE, Epic or other platforms as needed. Ability to trouble shoot and resolve problems between Epic and MUSE. Works closely with staff, software and hardware vendors, Information Systems and other Advocate I.S. Coordinators to resolve issues and problems in a timely and efficient manner. Utilizes previous experience to evaluate and communicate urgency of problems. Keeps the manager and director informed of MUSE problems, resolution and actions taken. Documents all actions taken and informs appropriate personnel as indicated in established procedures. Required to maintain MUSE communication error logs and make corrections assuring proper billing of cardiology services. Trouble shoots Interface problems between MUSE and Epic computer systems in a timely and efficient manner. Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives. Tests and verifies software enhancements, bug bites, updates and database changes in MUSE systems Documents all testing, fixes, updates and any database changes made to MUSE. Maintains the addition/change/deletion of information to the cardiology files in MUSE. Coordinate the day to day operations of the EKG department, including EKGs. Holter monitors, and MCOTs Event recorders. Serves the role of the charge person, and prepares and conducts performance evaluations on the staff of the EKG and Holter departments and submits them to the manager for approval Assigns daily staff work assignments and prepares work schedules, processes time cards on report express and authorizes and regulates extra work hours, overtime and vacations Practices the principles of continuous quality improvement to contribute to positive patient outcomes. Provides physicians and leaders with all totals for reading cardio diagnostic reports Participates with department leadership to provide a positive work environment for staff in terms of growth and development and job satisfaction. Responsible for the EKG techs is the ED per site requirement Participates in recruitment activities, interviews and clinically evaluating prospective employees and providing input to the manager Provide clinical support when needed by performing EKGs and MCOTs/Event monitors. Ability to, in conjunction with cardiology personnel regarding the operation of MUSE and its various uses and new software capabilities through new employee orientation, hands-on training, in servicing, etc. Prepares orientation programs for new employees and determines competence of the new employees to work independently following orientation to the department and their position. Assigns each associate to the appropriate MUSE set of functions required to do their job. Serves as a resource regarding the system of both functionality and technical operations for all users as needed. Utilizing technical experience, assists in planning, training and implementation of software enhancement and new software purchases. Maintains access database for cardio diagnostics. Ensures that all charges in the cardiodiagnostics department are properly charged so that revenue is not lost. Ability to maintain technical skills, organizational skills and communication skills. Maintains technical expertise in the field of Cardiology by attending workshops, seminars or conferences. Remains knowledgeable by reading current literature and leading discussions or making presentations. Contributes to the department in-service program by presenting one program per year that relates to the position’s responsibility. Ability to maintain MUSE peripheral equipment in all modalities of Cardiodiagnostics Performs required maintenance checks on all equipment on a regular basis and corrects any problems found. Maintains equipment and backs up records in MUSE Assists in the installation of MUSE peripheral equipment including CRTs, PCs, barcode readers, printers, etc. Takes inventory, orders and maintains supplies(ribbons, toner cartridges, paper, etc.) Participates in cost containment efforts. Keeps inventory of all equipment in cardio diagnostics. )Maintains proper documentation of any repairs or replacements that are required and notifies biomedical services. Acts as a MUSE resource for other Advocate Health sites when needed or requested

Requirements

  • BLS
  • Must hold an active EKG certification issued by a nationally recognized credentialing body (e.g., National Health career Association (NHA), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within one year of hire or transfer.
  • High School degree
  • 5 years’ experience in EKG
