The Infusion Nurse at Clements Ferry will report to the Unit Manager. Under general supervision, the Infusion Nurse provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at a competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.

Requirements

• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or Nursing License Compact.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Minimum of one year of nursing experience required.
• Current South Carolina RN License or multi-state Nursing License Compact and BLS required.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates care for infusion patients.
• Functions as a liaison between registration staff and clinical staff to facilitate the efficient flow of patients throughout the system.
• Confers with physicians regarding need, urgency, and appropriateness of infusion and clinic visits, ancillaries if needed.
• Assesses and reviews physician orders to assist with scheduling patients in a timely fashion.
• Manages comprehensive nursing care for patients whose needs range from uncomplicated to complex and rapidly changing.
• Organizes and prioritizes nursing care activities considering the needs of the patients and other staff members.
• Initiates/facilitates/collaborates with all members of the interdisciplinary team to improve care delivered to the patients.
• Coordinates and manages care by applying analytical reasoning, reflection, rational problem solving skills, using evidence based information and clinical judgment.
• Functions as a patient/family advocate.
• Collaborates with physicians to monitor, evaluate and trend patient responses to treatments during duration of status as a patient.
• Works with support staff to maximize efficiency in infusion scheduling.
• Documents all patient care activities in the electronic medical record.
• Generates ancillary requests in practice partner and updates medicines as needed in EMR.
• Participates in performance improvement/research activities designed to improve patient care, and/or organizational processes.
