About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and skilled CMA to join the Cardiology team. Located at the Clements Ferry Pavilion, the team members (RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants) work alongside cardiology providers to care for their patients. While this position is primarily based in the cardiology area, there are opportunities to cross-train for other specialties. We work in a fast-paced environment, but we also know how to have fun on the job. Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday through Friday. No weekends or holidays and free on-site parking. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program.
  • One year of patient care experience preferred.
  • Must be certified through AMT, AAMA, NHA, NAHP, MedCA, NCCT, or NAHP.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Cardiology and Stress Testing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients and taking vitals and health history.
  • Documenting in an electronic medical record.
  • Returning patient messages.
  • Giving injections and assisting with minor procedures.
  • Ensuring accurate calibrations, cleaning, and scheduled maintenance of clinical/lab equipment.
  • Maintaining and reviewing patient records, charts, and any other pertinent information.
  • Documenting test and exam results.
  • Communicating plan of care to the patient including formal development of patient education materials.
  • Maintaining exam room supplies, instruments, and cleanliness of patient care environment.
  • Maintaining timely flow of patients and assisting with scheduling of appointments and referrals.
  • Screening patients for appropriate information and providing patient education.
  • Observing, recording, and reporting patient's physical and psychosocial condition.
  • Responding to and triaging phone calls.
  • Calling in orders as ordered by physician.
  • Instructing patients regarding treatment and/or medication.
  • Monitoring and distributing medication including samples and controlled substances.
  • Triaging patients and preparing for physician exams and procedures.
  • Assisting with exams, procedures, and treatments as necessary.
  • Instructing patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Administering prescribed treatments and tests as ordered by the physician.
