About The Position

The successful applicant will be an Advanced Practice Provider interested in working full-time in the care of patients with gynecologic cancer. The APP will join a busy Division that includes 7 Gynecologic Oncologists. The Division specializes in the diagnosis, surgery, treatment, and management of cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, and vulvar cancer with compassion and thoroughness.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a PA, FNP, or ANP in Women’s Health or Surgical Oncology.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Oncology Certification for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Experience in Gynecologic Oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.
  • Evaluates and treats patients based on history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures including endometrial biopsies, colposcopies, vulvar biopsies, wound debridement, and vacuum therapy.
  • Develops and implements the Women’s Inclusive Sexual Health Clinic (WISH) for patients with active cancer and those in remission experiencing sexual health function issues.
  • Manages a Survivorship Clinic for cancer survivors weekly at Hollings Cancer Center and other outreach locations.
  • Provides on-call services for the inpatient population in coordination with supervising physicians.
  • Assures optimal outcomes for patients while maintaining customer satisfaction and institutional goals.
  • Initiates referrals to other healthcare providers and consults with attending or collaborating physicians.
  • Documents and bills for direct care provided.
  • Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
  • Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
  • Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
  • Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as advanced practice provider students.
