About The Position

MUSC’s Department of Emergency Medicine is looking for a PA or APRN to join its team of Advanced Practice Providers. Incumbent will provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services for direct patient care in the Adult Emergency Departments in the Main University Hospital and Ashley River Tower, as delegated by the Emergency Medicine physician.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification for adult inpatient positions.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification as required by the Level I Trauma Center.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a PA or APRN in an Emergency Department setting or completion of an Emergency Medicine Fellowship/Residency.

Nice To Haves

• Emergency Room Nurse Practitioner (ENP) Certification.
• Experience in managing acutely ill or injured patients.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.
• Evaluates and treats patients based on history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results.
• Performs therapeutic procedures including administration of local and digital anesthesia, repair of lacerations, removal of foreign bodies, and more.
• Initiates referrals to other healthcare providers and consults with attending or collaborating physicians.
• Documents and bills for direct care provided.
• Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
• Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
• Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
• Maintains licenses, certifications, and continuing education as required.
• Potential to precept students and facilitate learning of new team members.
