About The Position

MUSC's Department of Emergency Medicine is looking for a PA or APRN to join its team of Advanced Practice Providers. Incumbent will provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services for direct patient care in the Adult Emergency Departments in the Main University Hospital and Ashley River Tower, as delegated by the Emergency Medicine physician.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification for adult inpatient positions.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification as required by the Level I Trauma Center.
• DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to the first day.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a PA or APRN in an Emergency Department setting.
• Completion of an Emergency Medicine Fellowship/Residency.
• Current Emergency Room Nurse Practitioner (ENP) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.
• Evaluates and treats patients based on history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results.
• Performs therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill, and proficiency.
• Documents and bills for direct care provided.
• Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
• Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
• Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
• Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
• Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student.
