About The Position

Scarinci Hollenbeck is seeking a high-energy attorney to join our highly regarded Public Law team. This role reports directly to the Public Law Department Chair and is responsible for providing professional legal counsel and representation for municipalities and public entities. The attorney will engage in various legal tasks, including preparing resolutions and ordinances, attending public meetings, and assisting in contract negotiations. The position requires a proactive approach to legal research and the ability to render day-to-day legal advice.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice law in the state of New Jersey required.
• Admitted to practice in law in the state of New York a plus.
• 5 years' legal experience as an attorney.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize, and prepare documents as requested.
• Ability to organize workflow and use time efficiently.
• Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
• Ability to show strong attention to detail, as well as strength in proofreading.
• Demonstrate proficiency in applicable computer programs (Lexis, Westlaw, Microsoft Office Suite).
• Excellent legal research, writing, and presentation skills, and high professional standards.
• Uses the utmost discretion regarding sensitive company and confidential client information.

Responsibilities

• Prepare resolutions, ordinances and attend public meetings.
• Assist in negotiation and preparation of contracts.
• Depending on experience, participate in advising and counseling.
• Research and prepare formal and informal memoranda on various municipal topics including Open Public Records Act, Open Public Meetings Act, Local Public Contracts Law and Property Maintenance Code.
• Render appropriate day-to-day oral and written legal advice.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
