The Opportunity Our USGO Erie Plains team is seeking a Multiskilled Technician in the Cambridge area to support the operation and maintenance of our natural gas facilities. We are seeking an individual that possesses knowledge and experience of high-pressure natural gas pipeline, gas measurement, compression, and cathodic protection systems. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent problem solving, communication, and decision-making skills. The successful candidate must reside within 30 miles or 45 minutes of the reporting location to comply with emergency response requirements. Depending on the candidate's qualifications, they may be offered a position at the appropriate skill level and/or career ladder.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Electrical, instrumentation, and controls experience in a related industry
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related software
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain TC Energy DOT driver status.
  • Maintain a safe driving record
  • Obtain operator qualifications to perform applicable covered tasks
  • Successfully complete TC Energy EIC Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 training
  • Successfully complete TC Energy Measurement boot camp. (6503)
  • Successfully complete TC Energy Regulation boot camp. (6504)
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, to include drug and alcohol testing
  • Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
  • Be willing to travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which may involve some overnight stays away from home
  • Be able to work in adverse weather and temperatures conditions, as well as cramped spaces
  • Lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Exert up to 100 pounds of physical force
  • Stand, walk, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Experience maintaining control systems and using various types of gas measurement testing equipment
  • Master Electrician License or equivalent. (i.e. mining electrical certification)
  • Industry certification such as ISA desired
  • Ability to interpret technical reference documents and P&ID drawings

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, test, repair, operate, and maintain power, process controls, programmable logic controllers (PLC), electric generation equipment, microwave multiplex equipment, pneumatic and electronic valves, transmitters, switches, meters and regulators, shut down devices, auxiliary systems, relief and over pressure protection devices, control systems, AC and DC electrical systems, medium to high voltage motor control centers, flame and gas detection systems, and ignition systems
  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, test, repair, operate, and maintain electric and natural gas driven engines, reciprocating and turbine gas compressors, standby generators, pumps, low pressure and steam boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, cooler fans, valves and operators, line heaters, reboilers, flares, regulating equipment, communication systems and other associated electrical equipment used in natural gas compression
  • Maintain PLCs, pneumatic and electronic control valves, transmitters, switches, regulators, gas quality devices, gas line heaters, chart recorders, gas measurement equipment, and odorizers
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain instrumentation, electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatuses, fixtures, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment using hand and power tools
  • Perform diagnostic tests, accuracy tests, calibrations, and replacements of various equipment and instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, flow, speed, and vibration), gages, transmitters and controllers with test equipment such as a Hart Communicator, TREX and Fluke meter
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on gas turbine and reciprocating compressor units, both natural gas and electric driven and associated auxiliary equipment including HVAC
  • Operate compression facilities and auxiliary equipment
  • Monitor high voltage MCC’s
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain and repair equipment such as actuators, valves, stem seals and other components
  • Installs and maintains conduit and wiring, network cables, fiber optics, tubing, and solenoid valves, transmitters, switches, and similar devices needed to power, sequence, control, and protect electrical and mechanical equipment and systems
  • Inspects, tests, and repairs generators and their control circuits, motor control centers, AC and DC power systems, transformers, transfer switches, and other equipment and devices associated with power generation and/or distribution
  • Correctly interprets and applies the National Electric Code; sizes wire, conduit, motor overloads, breakers, and similar devices
  • Reads, interprets, and updates single line diagrams, flow schematics, circuit diagrams, P&IDs, instruction manuals, station maps, and other written materials to install and trouble shoot equipment and systems
  • Locate and mark underground facilities per 811
  • Plan and lead pipeline isolation and gas handling activities, blowdowns, purging and pressuring up
  • Monitor contractor activity on-site
  • Support US Regulatory Compliance and external inspection agencies on integrated and field inspections
  • Identify requirements for technical and physical management of change (MOC) and act as MOC originator and/or coordinator
  • Complete work orders, entering data, create new work orders in SAP/BlueWorx, and other task specific software programs
  • Compile prepare and maintain records related to DOT audits, accuracy test, calibrations, equipment changes, relief valves test and gas analysis
  • Plan and coordinate activities acting as operations representative performing all required operations tasks and inspections for maintenance and capital construction projects including but not limited to hot work, energy isolation, gas handling, NORMS and Benzene monitoring, critical lifts, pipeline inspections, pre-start up safety reviews (PSSR) and commissioning activities when required
  • Maintain facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices inside and outside of the facilities
  • Perform other duties as required at compressor stations, M&R stations, storage and pipeline facilities
