About The Position

The Multiplication Animal Caretaker at Iowa Select Farms is responsible for the care and management of weaned gilts and feeder-sized gilts to ensure optimal productivity. Responsibilities

• Care and management of animals to ensure proper feeding and availability of water.
• Daily observation of animals and treatment of sick animals.
• Evaluation and maintenance of overall animal conditions.
• Timely euthanasia when necessary, following proper procedures.
• Management of facilities to ensure proper functioning of equipment like fans and heaters.
• Cleaning and disinfecting facilities, including power washing.
• Promoting safe animal handling practices.
• Maintaining accurate records using ISF protocols.
• Ordering and dispensing medications and vaccinations according to ISF protocols.
• Proper handling of chemicals and following PPE requirements.
• Following mortality removal protocols and ensuring biosecurity procedures are adhered to.
• Moving animals using safe handling policies.
• Providing feedback to the farm manager.
• Receiving, sorting, and penning incoming pigs.
• Assisting with loading and unloading activities.
• Assisting with month-end inventories on animals and supplies.
