Requirements

  • Student Attendees of the UC Berkeley 2026 Spring STEM Career & Internship Fair will be prioritized.
  • Upcoming Internship Opportunities and entry level career opportunities anticipated in the following areas: Lab, Sales, Finance, Revenue, Customer Service, Marketing, Sales, Product, etc.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science.
  • Minimum education: high school diploma

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating testing services for patients by:
  • Reviewing test request forms and additional documentation submitted with a patient specimen to ensure accurate and timely testing.
  • Working with healthcare providers to complete the required documentation and sample submission.
  • Working with insurance companies to secure the highest possible coverage for patients.
  • Communicating with patients to explain insurance coverage benefits and test information including process and turnaround time.
  • Complying with the laboratory’s technical, administrative and safety policies and procedures.
  • Participating in the laboratory’s quality assurance plan, adhering to quality control and preventive maintenance policies, and appropriately documenting these activities.
  • Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Operating high-performance liquid handling robots.
  • Prepares for testing
  • Verify patient identifiers on the sample and the test request form.
  • Enters data into a lab information system.
  • Identify, resolve and document exceptions and discrepancies.
