As part of a major, multi-year initiative to expand research activities in Quantum Information Science across the IU Bloomington campus, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering invite applications for multiple tenure/tenure-track positions at the associate professor rank to begin in the Fall of 2025. This initiative aims to enhance the university's research capabilities in the field of Quantum Information Science, and successful candidates will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse group of faculty members from various disciplines, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Intelligent Systems Engineering. The search is particularly focused on applicants in chemistry, mathematics, computer science, and intelligent systems engineering, reflecting the university's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration. Candidates are expected to conduct research in areas such as quantum information theory and experiment, simulation, sensing, and materials. The university is particularly interested in candidates whose research complements ongoing activities in atomic/molecular/optical physics, quantum simulations, quantum algorithms, quantum machine learning, materials chemistry, and experimental and computational photonics. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty from the interdepartmental Quantum Science & Engineering Center and the multi-institutional Center for Quantum Technologies, fostering a vibrant research environment. In addition to research, candidates will be responsible for engaging undergraduate and graduate students through effective teaching and mentoring. They are expected to sustain an active, externally funded research program and participate in service to the university and the profession. The university values diversity, equity, and inclusion, and candidates are encouraged to demonstrate how their experience and research will support these priorities.
