About The Position

The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position. The Multimedia Production Specialist II will be supervised by and provide direct support to both the Director of the National Center for Infrastructure Transformation (NCIT) and the Communications Manager. The individual will be responsible for researching compelling materials to produce newsworthy media about NCIT using a combination of text, audio, video, and graphics to deliver content across various platforms like print, digital, and social media. Other responsibilities include website maintenance, hosting podcast sessions, conducting interviews, shooting and editing footage, publishing content, and using social media to engage with audiences. This versatile role is pivotal to sharing high-quality multimedia content that promotes the mission, vision, and activities of NCIT. This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of planning and executing marketing plans with regards to multimedia preferred.
  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to conceptually understand instructional needs and translate them in multimedia designs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, computer information systems, computer science, graphics design or a related field.
  • At least three years of related experience.
  • Experience with web design, web maintenance, photography, videography, and/or graphic design.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of software to generate hardcopy, softcopy, and web products, publications, brochures, and web pages.
  • Proficiency in setting up appropriate lighting and camera settings for creating exceptional pictures, and videos with good sound qualities.
  • Proficiency with graphic tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite 6, and Macromedia Fireworks for graphic creation.
  • Proficiency with print-based design principles, desktop publishing and typesetting software application such as Adobe InDesign.
  • Proficiency with video creation and editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Premiere Rush, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Spark Video.
  • Proficiency with web applications such as WordPress, and knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, PHP server-side programming scripting.
  • Proficiency in digital communication, graphics tools, and platforms.
  • Proficiency in incorporate audio, video, graphics and textual data to create interactive presentations.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into accessible content and create interactive presentations.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Excellent (presentation) communication skills.
  • Experience with media relations and public speaking.
  • Experience with podcasting, developing blogs, and public speaking.
  • Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
  • Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of six years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Writing and producing feature stories, articles, press releases, web content, and newsletters highlighting NCIT research and activities. Includes coordination with copywriters and faculty researchers.
  • Shooting and editing photos/videos of research projects, workshops, interviews, and outreach events; producing multimedia stories and promotional clips.
  • Updating and maintaining NCIT’s website and social media channels (LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Facebook); scheduling and optimizing posts; coordinating with the university's marketing and communications office.
  • Providing live event coverage (streaming, recording, photography), conducting short interviews, capturing behind-the-scenes content, and producing post-event summaries or highlight reels.
  • Collaborating with NCIT leadership to plan and showcase NCIT’s impact to stakeholders and the general public.
  • Collaborate with NCIT staff and communications teams to align content with organizational goals and branding guidelines.
  • Monitoring engagement metrics (views, shares, read time, click-throughs); preparing monthly analytics reports; refining content strategy based on audience behavior.
  • File management, content archiving, travel coordination for field shoots, professional development, and assignments from the NCIT Director and Communications Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with the University's Office of Marketing and Communications to align and support strategic communications and marketing efforts that enhance institutional awareness and engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
