About The Position

Join WVVA, a Gray Local Media station in Bluefield, WV, as a Multimedia Journalist. WVVA in Bluefield, WV (a Gray Media television station) is seeking an ambitious, resourceful Multimedia Journalist to deliver original, hard news stories that our viewers won’t find anywhere else. The ideal candidate is a high-energy storyteller comfortable producing content across broadcast, web, and social platforms. This role offers hands-on training in all aspects of television news production, including opportunities to anchor and access to modern, industry-leading equipment. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field preferred.
• Prior experience as a multimedia journalist and on-air anchor preferred.
• Excellent news judgment and the ability to tell compelling stories across platforms.
• Familiarity with broadcast newsroom workflows; experience with ENPS and Edius a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driver record check.

Responsibilities

• Pitch and produce original, leadable stories daily for on-air broadcasts and digital platforms.
• Investigate tips and information using strong research and critical thinking to uncover the deeper story.
• Shoot, write, edit, and upload videos, photos, and stories optimized for TV, web, and social media.
• Cultivate local sources and develop relationships that provide timely, community-focused reporting.
• Report on air, coordinate live shots, and occasionally anchor as needed.
• Perform reliably under deadline pressure while exercising sound news judgment and ethical standards.
• Collaborate respectfully with newsroom teammates and contribute to a fast-paced, audience-first environment.
