About The Position

Creates engaging user-facing media for online and mobile delivery, including illustrations, animation, video, and audio. This role balances visual design and multimedia expertise with an understanding of learning design and instructional technology to determine the standards for providing delightful course experiences for Academy learners. This role impacts learner success by providing standards and guidance, empowering teams to produce beautiful and engaging courses and assessments at scale—your work will make a high impact for learners who are changing their lives through education. Works as part of an agile design team to select and design appropriate digital content that’s fit for purpose, iterate on the design, and ultimately develop production-ready media for inclusion in eLearning courses and modules. As an innovative thinker, this role delivers creative solutions with a quick turnaround time. Works with a team versed in learning experience design, user experience and interface design, and instructional writing—together creating transformational experiences for our learners. Requirements

  • Mastery of visual design, layout, and multimedia communication.
  • Deep understanding of UX, UI, responsive design, and accessibility standards.
  • Proficiency with industry tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, Articulate 360, InVision, and more.
  • Strong command of color theory, typography, iconography, composition, grid systems, animation, and photography.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize and execute multi‑product UI frameworks.
  • Experience managing multimedia projects from ideation through implementation and analysis.
  • 3+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree, or 1+ years and a master's degree, or a doctorate or terminal degree without experience.
  • Strong portfolio of work required.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership & Strategy Champion and evolve our Visual Design and Multimedia standards, creating scalable systems that empower teams to deliver delightful learner experiences.
  • Co‑create media strategies aligned with product goals, user needs, and business outcomes.
  • Lead multimedia initiatives from concept to execution, ensuring every asset is purposeful, polished, and impactful.
  • Stay ahead of emerging design trends and technologies to keep our products fresh, modern, and competitive.
  • Creative Production & Execution Produce high‑quality multimedia assets—expert videos, animations, visual imagery, audio, motion graphics, and more.
  • Rapidly generate mockups, prototypes, and proof‑of‑concepts for usability testing, A/B testing, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Apply best‑practice UX/UI principles to create intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling experiences.
  • Ensure technical feasibility by collaborating closely with front‑end developers and cross‑functional partners.
  • User‑Centered Design & Research Design with empathy for adult learners, underserved populations, and diverse student communities.
  • Plan and conduct user testing grounded in human‑centered design; iterate based on insights and feedback.
  • Review learner and stakeholder feedback to recommend enhancements that elevate the user experience.
  • Collaboration & Influence Work within an agile, cross‑functional team to build engaging, effective learning products.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners, ensuring alignment and smooth execution.
  • Mentor peers, share expertise, and contribute to a culture of creative excellence.
  • Deliver clear, cohesive presentations that communicate design rationale and media strategy.
