The Multilingual Teacher supports the academic and linguistic development of multilingual learners by designing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs that address diverse language needs. This role collaborates with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to ensure that multilingual learners achieve academic success while developing English proficiency and maintaining their native language skills. The teacher provides targeted interventions, promotes culturally responsive practices, and fosters an inclusive learning environment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Instructional Support & Intervention Develop and deliver instructional strategies tailored to multilingual learners’ language proficiency and academic needs. Provide small-group or individualized support to students needing additional language or content assistance. Collaborate with other classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and materials to meet the needs of multilingual learners. Assessment & Data Analysis Administer, interpret, and track language proficiency and academic assessments for multilingual learners. Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and inform instructional planning. Provide recommendations based on assessment results to support student achievement and program improvement. Professional Development & Collaboration Serve as a resource for classroom teachers and staff on best practices for multilingual instruction. Conduct workshops or training sessions on language acquisition, differentiation, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Collaborate with school teams to design and implement school-wide language support initiatives. Family & Community Engagement Communicate regularly with families to support student learning and provide guidance on language development. Develop resources and strategies to engage multilingual families in the educational process. Act as a liaison between school, families, and community agencies to support student success. Program Development & Compliance Assist in the development and evaluation of multilingual learner programs and curricula. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding language instruction and support. Maintain accurate records of student progress, interventions, and program outcomes. Other Responsibilities Stay current on research, trends, and best practices in multilingual education and language acquisition. Participate in school committees and professional networks to support continuous improvement. Perform other duties as assigned by administration to support multilingual learner success.
