About The Position

Lawrence High School is seeking an enthusiastic and mission-driven ESL Co-Teacher to support instruction in High School level classrooms. The ESL Co-Teacher will work in collaboration with general education teachers to ensure English Language Learners (ELLs) are accessing rigorous, standards-based content while developing their academic English proficiency. Ideal candidates will have a passion for equitable education, a commitment to culturally responsive teaching, and a belief in the limitless potential of all students.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
• Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure in ESL and/or History/Social Studies preferred
• SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement required
• Passing scores on Communication & Literacy and relevant subject matter knowledge tests
• Minimum of two years' experience in a diverse school setting preferred
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

Responsibilities

• Co-teach five academic sections
• Collaborate to align instruction with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
• Support the implementation of common assessments measuring progress toward standards
• Use data from formative and summative assessments to differentiate and inform instruction
• Meet weekly with content and interdisciplinary teams to plan and review student progress
• Work closely with Special Education and ESL staff to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Participate in biweekly instructional coaching to continuously improve practice
• Serve as an advisor to a small cohort of students, fostering academic and social growth
• Communicate weekly with students and families to support learning and engagement
• Contribute to a positive school culture focused on high expectations and student success
• Assist in supporting students' transition from middle school to high school
