Position Overview: This role is in Governance and Business Services (GBS) and is part of 1st Line within the Multifamily Division at Freddie Mac in McLean, VA. GBS leads the division in managing operational risk, in compliance with the Corporate Enterprise Risk Management framework. As Risk & Controls Manager in GBS, you will support Multifamily Process Owners in managing operational risks facing their processes using an integrated approach for operational risk frameworks and processes and in collaboration with the 2nd line, 3rd line and other business lines counterparts. You will lead risk assessments, design and implementation of controls, issue remediation and other operational risk management activities. Requirements

  • College degree with 8+ years related work experience, such as Risk Management and/or Internal Audit
  • Ability to evaluate and review the compliance against established policies and standards
  • Ability to see the big picture and synthesize information from various sources into concise written documents
  • Proven risk literacy – the ability to describe use cases and outcomes, risk sources and management concepts across business and technology domains
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal direction and collaborate effectively
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint skills

Responsibilities

  • Engage business area to identify and assess relevant risks in business and design adequate controls that mitigate risks
  • Prepare, conduct, and document risk & control self-assessment (RCSA) for business areas
  • Provide end-to-end support to business throughout the issue management lifecycle
  • Investigate and document operational risk events and guide the development of remediation actions
  • Support implementation of significant changes, such as new products or regulatory requirements
  • Support business area during audit and oversight activities and regulator examinations
  • Keep abreast of current business trends and emerging risks and assess their impact on operational risk
  • Maintain operational risk data stored in BWise, ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Support reporting on risk & control assessments and operational risk to divisional Leadership
  • Work individually and with the business to identify, develop and implement operational efficiency
  • Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced staff

  • This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $126,000 - $190,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program.
  • The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
