About The Position

Newcastle is seeking a real estate project management professional to work on multifamily and mixed-use projects. This individual will work on an urban portfolio in highly sought-after and vibrant neighborhoods such as West Loop, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, and Lakeview. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio that includes both new construction and vintage properties. Based in Chicago, this role will take ownership on renovations and capital projects in collaboration with colleagues from the firm’s Project Management, Operations, Acquisitions, and Finance teams. The individual will be a key driver of portfolio growth by managing the successful completion of projects and maintaining a strong infrastructure to our Chicago-based portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture or engineering.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in the real estate industry.
  • Commercial building renovation/rehabilitation experience and basic level of proficiency in CAD, sketch up, and similar design software tools would be advantageous.
  • Experience with multifamily or tenant building infrastructure in an urban portfolio is a plus.
  • Strong financial and project management skills, result-driven, and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Relationships with Chicago-area consultants and general contracting firms are a plus.
  • A highly motivated team player eager to work in a collaborative environment and focused on delivering outstanding results for our capital partners.
  • Good interpersonal instincts, with the ability to constructively reconcile differences in a positive manner.
  • Must be willing and able to travel within Chicago metro area.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the firm’s renovations, capital maintenance and large building systems projects for the assigned portfolio.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of building infrastructure, systems and overall interior and exterior capital maintenance of the properties.
  • Coordinate the firm’s due diligence and feasibility efforts for proposed renovations and project work.
  • Lead the RFP process and selection of architects, consultants and contractors needed for projects.
  • Manage and coordinate with vendors, contractors, designers and 3rd parties to meet their responsibilities and scope in building maintenance or renovations.
  • Work with the multifamily operations team, onsite employees, and tenants to coordinate successful completion of the project.
  • Maintain sound financial and budget management of all projects in close coordination with our Asset Management and Finance teams.
  • Stay abreast of relevant real estate market conditions and communicate insights internally to support all divisions of the firm.
  • Build and maintain strong industry relationships that add value to the platform.
  • Assist the investments team with due diligence and budgeting for potential new developments or acquisitions.
