About The Position

Multifamily Lending Transaction Manager will be responsible for supporting multiple aspects of the lending lifecycle including but not limited to loan closing and servicing coordination, facilitating complex client onboarding, data management, and quality control. The team will be accountable and responsible for operational oversight of the closing and servicing of all loan transactions of the business division being supported to ensure all internal and external requirements are met.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in real estate industry/loan administration or equivalent role is preferred.
  • Previous closing experience with affordable multifamily deals preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines, manage priorities, and complete assigned tasks with minimal management follow up.
  • Quantitative skills with a high proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft based programs.
  • Detail and quality assurance oriented; capable of working multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Energetic individual who shows initiatives, is a team player, and has a positive attitude to change.
  • Ease with learning new systems/applications required.
  • Highly-effective influencing skills; ability to coordinate internal meetings with several parties (Underwriting, Legal, Compliance, Risk, etc.) to gather information and meet conditions.
  • Familiarity with Tableau or visualization tools.
  • Experience with Loan IQ, transaction capture tools, etc.
  • Developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Client relationship and solution skills.
  • Familiarity with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae Systems.
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate legal documentation is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within a large global team supporting wholesale lending at large financial Institution.
  • Knowledge of wholesale loan (syndicated / bilateral) product and business, including an understanding of legal loan documentation, loan / funding mechanics, deal structure, funds flows, etc.
  • Experience working with clients under time constraints to facilitate a transaction or process.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with team members, Senior management and other business constituents.
  • Critical decision-making capabilities including the ability to identify, escalate, and propose solutions to problems.

Responsibilities

  • Work with loan originators, underwriters, analysts, and borrowers to obtain documents required to underwrite and thereafter close Multifamily housing real estate loans.
  • Perform cursory review of title, survey, organizational documents, loan documents, insurance certificates, and other project level due diligence to ensure conformance with internal requirements and credit approvals.
  • Track deposits and expenses for each deal.
  • Track progress by updating established due diligence checklists on a weekly basis – working with borrowers to collect all required documentation.
  • Address borrower inquiries and have proper judgment experience to know when issues should be elevated.
  • Prepare loan boarding input documents for loan servicer and transmit completed files to internal and external loan file custodian.
  • Work closely with the project sponsor/borrower and deal team members from Underwriting, Construction Risk, and other teams throughout the closing and approval process.
  • Work closely with outside counsel to prepare and review all loan closing documents.
  • Comprehend and interpret the credit memo and underwriting analysis to appropriately communicate issues to all pertinent parties and ensure all closing conditions are satisfied prior to closing.
  • Review deal summary and legal documents to ensure the risk profile and deal structure are captured across all systems to allow for accurate financial and business reporting.
  • Prepare closing settlement statement, review closing costs, coordinate with Operations to set up funding, and complete delivery package for post-closing servicing.
  • Contribute to the build and development team to support loan origination and lifecycle management which includes large complex syndicated and bilateral loans covering but not limited to corporate, commercial, real estate, structured lending and trade.
  • Assist with the creation of processes, standards, procedures, controls, training, and implementation of transaction management.
  • Aid in the design and implementation of technology including testing and rollout.
  • Provide training and support to transaction management staff and business constituents.
  • Partner with each of the originating and coverage business lines, credit risk, operations, legal, etc.
  • Ensure that quality of data, controls and processes performed meet internal policies and regulatory requirements/expectations.
  • Work with lines of business, transaction management, and loan operations to define and implement operational metrics and risk and control reviews to ensure all stakeholders have end to end transparency.
  • Constantly improve processes, controls and efficiencies within the group and front to back across loan lifecycle.
  • Participate in projects to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Take part in loan remediation and loan system testing / migrations.
  • Actively manage and maintain a deal closing pipeline of loan transactions.
  • Coordinate and close loan transactions/lifecycle events, capture data, store documentation, troubleshoot issues/roadblocks, perform quality control.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets.
