About The Position

The Multidisciplinary (MDE) Program Representative is a New York State certified or licensed approved evaluator responsible for the accuracy, consistency and completeness of individual evaluation reports and summary reports for the Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE) initial evaluations; responsible to report any discrepancies in the evaluation and summary reports to Evaluation Specialists; responsible to discuss with the parent the summary of the evaluation results prior to the initial review meeting; responsible to attend and participate in CPSE initial review meetings; and responsible to track outcomes of initial review meetings. The Evaluations Coordinator will have oversight of the MDE Program Representative.

Requirements

  • Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
  • Communication, Written - Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.
  • Motivation - Ability to inspire oneself and others to reach a goal and/or perform to the best of their ability.
  • Organized - Possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.
  • Time Management - Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
  • Master Degree preferred; and must hold valid New York State certification in Special Education or Students with Disabilities; or valid NYS professional license in Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Psychology.
  • Two to four years related experience.
  • Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Review evaluation and summary reports
  • Alert the evaluation team if there are any discrepancies.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of reports.
  • Review reports with parents
  • An approved evaluator shall provide the parent with information on the evaluation findings and summary report. The summary evaluation shall be provided in English and when necessary, in the native language of the parent or other mode of communication used by the parent unless it is not feasible to do so.
  • Attend and participate in CPSE initial review meetings
  • Log into the review meeting with the Teams link or conference call ID provided, unless instructed otherwise. Contact Evaluation Specialist or Evaluation Coordinator if unable to access the meeting.
  • Present evaluation findings and do not make specific recommendations.
  • Review the evaluation summary when the administrator advises.
  • At the end of the review ask the family if they have any questions or concerns. If you cannot address the concern, please advise the Evaluation Specialist and Evaluations Coordinator.
  • If the administrator or family wants reports to be revised or if they need additional information, please alert the Evaluation Specialist and Evaluations Coordinator.
  • If additional evaluations are approved at the CPSE initial review meeting, please forward the Evaluation Specialist and Evaluations Coordinator the C-2P with the approval for the additional evaluation.
  • Track outcomes of CPSE Initial Review Meetings
  • Summarize placement, recommendations, and feedback on tracking form.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
