About The Position

Baylor Scott & White The Heart Group has been caring for the community for more than 25 years, offering advanced cardiac care for the prevention, detection and treatment of cardiovascular disease. We are looking for a multi-modality Tech/sonographer. The Multi-modality Sonographer performs basic to advanced ultrasound services. These may include abdominal, Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small parts. This position examines the patient's clinical history to identify the examination's purpose. It frames the clinical questions the examination should answer and expands the examination as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have RVS Registered Vascular Sonographer OR RVT Registered Vascular Tech AND RCS-Registered Cardiac Sonographer OR RDCS-Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Graduate of an Accredited Program.
  • 1-2 years of paid professional experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Must have TWO of the following certifications: Adv Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), ARRT-S Sonography (ARRT-S), ARRT-VI Interventional Rad (ARRT-VI), Musculoskeletal Sonography (MSK), Reg Congenital Cardiac Sono (RCCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Ped. Echocardiography (PE) (RDCS-PE), Reg Diag Med Sono-Abdomen (AB) (RDMS-AB), Reg Diag Med Sono-Breast (BR) (RDMS-BR), RDMS Fetal Echocardiography (RDMS-FE), Reg Diag Med Sono-OB/GYN (OB) (RDMS-OB), RDMS-Pediatric Sonography (PS) (RDMS-PS), Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS), Registered Vascular Tech (RVT).

Responsibilities

  • Perform multiple modality ultrasound procedures using various equipment and techniques.
  • Make necessary measurements for accurate, high-quality results.
  • Identify and define abnormalities specific to the procedure.
  • Extend the examination scope appropriately, deviating from standard techniques when necessary.
  • Correlate other diagnostic test results with anatomy and function.
  • Utilize appropriate protection measures during procedures.
  • Assist physicians in procedure and operating rooms by performing ultrasound studies.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and obtain clinical history, including physical findings and lab data.
  • Fit imaging techniques for comprehensive exams to avoid errors.
  • Explain the purpose of the ultrasound examination to the patient and answer questions.
  • Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the ultrasound Lab and its equipment.
  • Act as a resource to other staff, physicians and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures and studies.
  • Work closely with the ultrasound team to ensure quality processes and adherence to protocols.
  • Assist with unit or organization accreditation activities as delegated.
  • Implement protocols as new technology evolves, and ensure implementation and adherence to system standards.
  • Assure operation of equipment by performing quality checks following manufacturer's recommendations.
