About The Position

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, founded in 2008, is seeking a full-time Multi-Unit General Manager to oversee a couple of Boston locations. This role offers a significant opportunity for a highly experienced individual to collaborate closely with the founding team during a period of accelerated growth. The ideal candidate should possess experience in operating food retail spaces, either multi-unit or high-volume single-unit, have a passion for team building and leadership, and be capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. The Multi-Unit General Manager is ultimately responsible for the comprehensive operation of their assigned store(s), encompassing people operations, sales, inventory management, and ensuring an excellent guest service experience.

Requirements

  • ServSafe Manager Food Handlers license required
  • Prior experience managing a team required
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Possess dexterity to prepare and serve guests all menu items in accordance with established service and build-out standards
  • Able to push/pull/lift 50 lbs of weight regularly
  • Stand for extended periods of time regularly
  • Walk up and down stairs regularly
  • Stand, bend and reach for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in a food retail management role preferred

Responsibilities

  • Completes store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning stations for employees
  • Maintains store staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling, disciplining, and terminating employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Achieves financial objectives by monitoring sales targets, maintaining budgets, and properly forecasting labor
  • Upholds excellent standard of customer service
  • Ensures availability of merchandise and services by communicating with vendors; maintaining inventories
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment for customers and employees
  • Rolls out new menu items to team members and communicates these changes throughout the retail space
  • Processes weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner
  • Orders and maintains uniform supply and successfully holds all employees to uniform standard
  • Addresses all maintenance issues
