About The Position

The Multi-Purpose Clerk is an integral part of a highly motivated team focused on serving guests with an emphasis on the overall total store guest experience to consistently meet or exceed guest expectations. This position may involve assignments in various departments within the store, including Center Store Market, Fresh Market Departments, or Guest Services Department. The Multi-Purpose Clerk is responsible for promoting sales within the assigned department, answering guests' questions, responding to guest requests for products, and accurately placing special orders. Additionally, the Clerk practices safe food handling procedures, maintains a clean work area, and ensures that the environment is orderly and free from safety hazards. The role includes receiving, inspecting, and logging products for accuracy of shipment and quality, as well as stocking, rotating, and merchandising products to maintain freshness and department appeal. Key responsibilities include operating the check stand according to company policy and procedures, memorizing PLU codes, and keeping up to date with new products. The Clerk will also be involved in ordering, receiving, unloading, stocking, and rotating products onto shelves and cases in all areas of center store operations. In the Produce department, the Clerk will receive, inspect, and log products, trim, wash, and wrap produce, and maintain cleanliness in the floral area. In the Meat/Seafood department, responsibilities include weighing, wrapping, packaging, and labeling products for display, as well as providing guest service at the seafood counter. The Bakery/Deli duties involve preparing, weighing, packaging, and labeling baked goods and deli products, while the Janitorial responsibilities focus on maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the store. The Valley Fresh department requires the Clerk to cut, trim, wash, juice, and package produce according to company standards. Finally, in the Restaurant area, the Clerk will operate the register, take guest orders, and maintain cleanliness throughout the department.
