About The Position

The Radiological Technologist performs imaging examinations for both ambulatory and acute care environments, utilizing a variety of technical aspects that require judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in applying ionizing radiation to obtain diagnostic images. The Technologist is responsible for exam room presentation, patient transportation, entering exams into the Radiology Information System, scheduling radiology exams, educating patients on exam prep instructions, obtaining correct orders and paperwork for records, billing, and communicating with Medical Staff as requested. The Technologist may share on-call duties and is required to work with patients in age group specific environments: pediatric, geriatric, febrile, and acute care. The position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays as directed by the department leader.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent.
  • Graduate from an Accredited Radiography Technologist Program.
  • ASRT Certificate - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) within 60 days of hire or transfer.

  • ARRT Advanced CT Registry.
  • ARRT Advanced Mammography Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Documents appropriate information in patients’ charts.
  • Ensures the procedure and related supplies are billed correctly.
  • Presents high quality images to Radiologists.
  • Competently works within required computer programs (i.e. PACs, RIS, Vrad) as well as manual downtime processes.
  • Prepares and administers correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual.
  • Consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge to operate all radiological equipment in the proper setting.
  • Works as a team with other imaging departments to coordinate patient care and flow throughout care environment.
  • Provides a learning environment for students completing their clinical rotation.
  • Demonstrates the ability to efficiently perform multiple complex tasks.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques.
  • Focuses on patient satisfaction by scheduling appointments promptly and courteously.
  • Participates in upkeep of department, including cleanliness of work area and stocking of supplies.
  • Reviews patient’s condition, history, and physicians order; consults radiologist with any questions.
  • Routinely prepares the patient and the equipment for the upcoming procedure.
  • Provides professional age-specific interaction with patients.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.
