About The Position

Multi-Modality Tech PRN Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing top quality and safe healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities since 1917. Visit us online at: https://www.aikenregional.com Position Description: Assists physicians and performs radiological, paramedical, and clerical duties required in the care and assistance of patients. Works under the direction of the Radiology Supervisor and physicians. Is primarily responsible for helping with the daily operations of the CT department.

Requirements

  • Education: Successful completion of a radiological program or equivalent military training
  • Experience: One year of experience in two or more modalities with an external organization or successful completion of facility training and orientation required.
  • License or Registration Requirements: Current South Carolina certificate issued by SC Radiation Quality Standards Association and American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification. BLS (or obtained within 90 days of employment)

Responsibilities

  • Prepares room, equipment, contrast media and materials as needed for procedures.
  • Maintains clean and stocked procedure room daily.
  • Properly warms CT equipment daily, and assures equipment is working properly.
  • If the equipment is not functioning properly, notify appropriate person.
  • Prepares patient for CT and Radiology procedures - explains procedure, transfers patient to examination table, positions patient correctly, and assists patient at end of procedure.
  • Labels scans appropriately and uses proper patient ID on film prior to development of film
  • Performs general clerical, file room, darkroom, and transportation duties when needed to fulfill the workload of the department.
  • Practices patient care according to ARMC policy.
  • Assists Radiologists during procedures and takes scans as requested
  • Knowledgeable in proper sequence of scheduling exams for the entire Radiology department.
  • Considers age-related factors in obtaining images or performing diagnostic or therapeutic imaging studies. Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Regularly accepts additional work during period of low patient activity and demonstrates a willingness to assist others within the department as requested.
  • Maintains confidentiality and privacy of all data, records, forms, reports, procedures and any other information regarding customer relations of Aiken Regional Medical Centers 100% of the time.
  • Must know and implement radiation safety procedures when working with radiation producing equipment 100% of the time
  • Responsible for reading and reviewing all material in department manuals annually.
  • Responsible for ensuring that patient charges are given to the appropriate person to be entered into RMS in a timely manner and that the charges are accurate.
  • Responsible for knowing and maintaining the measures described in the Universal Protocol policy.
  • Send images to PACS appropriately and verify all are available for interpretation in a timely manner.
  • Must know and implement radiation safety procedures when working with radiation producing equipment.
  • Knows proper method of using CT power injectors.
  • Rotates to other imaging departments as needed; participates in holiday and on-call rotation requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
