About the position

Tetra Tech, an industry leader in engineering and consulting, is seeking candidates for a full-time Multi-Media Environmental Technician position at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center, CA. This role will require daily interaction with NASA personnel and on-site support to Tetra Tech Environmental Managers with multi-media environmental compliance with primary focus on Hazardous Materials and POL/Spills. This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hazardous materials management, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding hazardous materials, EPCRA, and TSCA.
  • Manage HM permits as required under the CERS as part of CA Unified Program.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of hazardous materials management requirements, including tracking, controlling, and managing hazardous materials and toxic chemical substances used onsite.
  • Oversee the chemical reuse process and manage the chemical reuse center, including evaluating unused materials for potential reuse.
  • Conduct inspections of chemical storage areas and TSCA-regulated areas to ensure compliance with hazardous materials management requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required reports, including EPCRA Tier II and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reports, and maintain an accurate hazardous materials inventory, prepare and submit HM Contingency Plans.
  • Provide technical consultation on environmental compliance regulatory issues and evaluate new projects for hazardous materials requirements.
  • Provide HM training to facility chemical issue/storage point managers.
  • Assist with spill and post spill management-assist with post spill response activities.
  • Provide training on spill and post-spill response.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 15 years of direct experience managing hazardous materials is required.
  • Knowledge of California environmental regulations is required.
  • Knowledge of NASA environmental guidelines, systems, and processes is preferred.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Must be detail oriented to properly document all environmental compliance activities occurring across the contract.
