About The Position

We are seeking a high‑level Controller to own the performance of financial accounting, audit readiness, analysis, and reporting across a group of related entities (multi‑entity structure that may include LLCs, operating subsidiaries, and holding companies). The ideal candidate is an innovative, systems‑minded leader who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to build processes and a high‑performing team from the ground up.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership, including multi‑entity consolidation and inter company accounting; Big Four audit exposure or public company experience a plus.
  • Deep command of US GAAP, internal controls, and audit preparedness; experience coordinating external audits and responding to complex requests.
  • Deep experience working in ERP systems (i.e. Acumatica, Business Central, NetSuite, Intacct, SAP) and strong desire to master new systems within a short timeframe.
  • Proven track record building teams and processes in dynamic, scaling environments; comfortable moving from strategy to execution.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate numbers into decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual closes across multiple entities; ensure timely, accurate consolidation, inter company eliminations, and GAAP compliance.
  • Establish and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls (AP/AR, cash management, payroll, fixed assets, revenue recognition, purchasing/commitments, and financial system access/roles).
  • Drive the financial review/audit lifecycle end‑to-end and serve as the day‑to-day owner for external auditors and Tax Accountants
  • Deliver management reporting (entity‑level and consolidated), including variance analysis, KPIs, cash flow forecasting, and board‑level packages.
  • Build a robust analytics layer for executive decision support (liquidity management and forecasting, unit economics, margin drivers, cost discipline, sensitivity/scenario modeling).
  • Responsible for ensuring proper compliance and filing timeliness with multi-state tax authorities (sales/use, property, franchise)
  • Own the risk management administration for the group of companies.
  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of cost accounting for raw materials, labor, and overhead; ensure accurate standard costing and variance analysis.
  • Implement inventory valuation and reconciliation processes for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Partner with operations to monitor production efficiency metrics and integrate them into financial reporting.
  • Manage capital expenditure tracking for equipment purchases and depreciation schedules.
  • Track job costing for custom builds and ensure profitability analysis by project.
  • Monitor material usage and waste to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate with production teams to align build schedules with cash flow planning.
  • Ensure revenue recognition policies for rent-to-own agreements follow GAAP.
  • Monitor portfolio performance metrics (delinquencies, repossessions, and residual values).
  • Implement credit risk assessment and provisioning for doubtful accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with state-specific consumer finance regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee property acquisition accounting, including purchase price allocation and due diligence cost tracking.
  • Manage capitalization policies for development and improvement costs; ensure accurate treatment under GAAP.
  • Implement lease accounting for rental properties (ASC 842 compliance), including amortization schedules and right-of-use asset tracking.
  • Monitor property-level performance metrics (NOI, cap rates, occupancy, and cash-on-cash returns) and integrate into consolidated reporting.
  • Coordinate valuation processes for investment properties and ensure impairment testing is performed timely.
  • Partner with Fractional CFO to forecast cash flows
  • Ensure compliance with state and local real estate tax filings, property tax assessments, and related regulatory requirements.
