Fuji Vegetable Oil, Inc. is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic team player to join our Maintenance Team as a Multi Craft Mechanic II in our Savannah, GA Plant. SUMMARY Performs mechanical and plant maintenance activities to ensure proper operation of machinery, equipment, buildings, and grounds.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency degree; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate on a radio.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply basic concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to distinguish between hot and cold to verify if the heat tracing is working on the process lines.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to read a computer screen including color coded indicators, pressure gauges, temperature and level gauges, gas and product flow indicators, and other measuring equipment.
  • The employee is occasionally required to work in confined spaces and must be able to pass a respiratory clearance test.
  • On-call rotation is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding, Pipefitting, and Millwright experience or training is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to troubleshoot, install, aligning, dismantling, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery, tanks, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, agitators, boilers, air compressors, valves, and piping.
  • Independently carries out preventative and proactive maintenance tasks per schedule to prevent breakdowns to ensure equipment remains operational.
  • Ability to precision align belts, gears or direct coupled shafts using proper tools to specified tolerances.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Willingness to work safe under pressure to urgently get equipment repaired, back up and running.
  • Ability to work independently responding to work orders and determine the extent of repairs needed. Requests assistance from skilled craftsman for any problems beyond area of knowledge or expertise.
  • Makes routine checks on equipment, document status and completes necessary reports.
  • Shows pride in craftmanship.
  • Must be able to respond to phone calls off shift. A 2-hour window is required for plant on-site arrival during assigned on-call schedules.
