Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate Degree in Machine Tool Technology or Precision Machining highly preferred.
  • Physical capacity to lift 35 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to perform all tasks and duties of: NC Lathe #2 and NC Miller #2.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to enter and verify information into written forms or database(s) as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain set up and operates multi-axis (9 or more axis) computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine centers.
  • Perform any combination of machining operations such as milling, turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, reaming, contouring, 3D surfacing and profiling of metal castings, forgings, bar stock, etc.
  • Understand and analyze blueprints and process sheets to completely machine a part requiring the use of various types of machine tools.
  • Search and load machine program into the CNC computer.
  • Maintain work shifts, fixture offsets and tool compensations as they relate to the workpiece and program interface.
  • Make any mathematical calculations necessary to properly locate the various machining areas and hold the machining areas to proper tolerances.
  • Review process sheet specifications and ensure that all required tooling and precision measuring equipment is available and on-hand.
  • Maintain set up of lathe and milling heads.
  • Attach fixtures to machine beds, tables, and/or spindle nose.
  • Position workpiece in collets, chucks, or fixtures according to set-up instructions and secure workpiece in place.
  • Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tools in machine spindles according to established procedures.
  • Observe machine operations and verify accuracy of machined workpiece against process sheet specifications using fixed gages, Micro-Hite, surface plates, dial gages, micrometers, dial calipers, go and no-go gages, etc.
  • Monitor metal-cutting action and cutting tool wear.
  • Mount CMM fixtures, call up CMM program, perform CMM probe calibration and interpret CMM data.
  • Diagnose dimensional problems and tool wear.
  • Practice safety and good housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Perform operator tasks according to the machines process maintenance checklist to ensure that the machine is in proper working order.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by management.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate of $29.70 plus a 15% 2nd shift differential.
  • Full-time employment with hours Monday - Friday 3pm to 11pm.
