About The Position

TekPro is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer for a full-time, direct hire position with a leading precision manufacturer in the Downers Grove area. This established shop specializes in producing high-quality, complex, tight-tolerance parts. The role involves reviewing new prints and CAD models, translating GD&T into efficient toolpaths, and defining machining strategies. The specialist will collaborate with machinists and engineers to refine programs, reduce cycle times, and troubleshoot programming and on-machine issues to maintain part specifications. Daily activities include documenting improvements and preparing for upcoming jobs. The ideal candidate thrives on complex, tight-tolerance work and enjoys a collaborative shop floor environment.

Requirements

3+ years programming in a CNC machining environment
Strong command of milling, turning, and multi-axis machining
Fluency in reading prints and GD&T
Experience with CAM platforms such as Mastercam, NX CAM, Fusion 360, or GibbsCAM (or similar)
Detail orientation and strong problem-solving skills

Hands-on machining background strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Build, edit, and refine CNC programs for milling and/or turning applications
Read blueprints and interpret CAD models and GD&T to produce accurate toolpaths
Select tooling and define speeds/feeds and machining strategies for maximum throughput
Partner with machinists, engineers, and production to improve processes
Troubleshoot programming and on-machine issues to keep parts on spec
Drive continuous improvement and reduce cycle times across jobs
