Under the direction of the Principal, the Elementary Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Classroom Teacher will provide an educational program and environment which promotes learning and personal growth for transitional kindergarten students in a self-contained classroom. Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is part of the K-12 public school system and is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate. The Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Teacher on Special Assignment will provide administrative leadership to the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) structure team to ensure all essential components of MTSS are implemented and monitored with fidelity and lead to dramatic and quantifiable academic, social-emotional, and behavioral achievement results for students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • 3 years of continuous teaching experience in grades K-5 reading
  • Experience working with at risk students
  • Appropriate Teaching Credential
  • Strong working knowledge of district approved instructional materials for reading instruction
  • Strong working knowledge of foundational mathematics assessments district reading benchmarks and other assessments
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong Collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive instruction in reading to at-risk students in a one-on-one or small group setting or push in model.
  • Identify student in grades K-8 who are at risk of not meeting grade level reading proficiency by analyzing data from identified state and district formative and summative assessments, grades, and measure of progress.
  • Coordinate with Principal to develop a schedule of one-on-one or small group reading support.
  • Work closely with teachers to coordinate intervention program efforts that align with regular classroom instructional focuses.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate data and records on student progress towards reading achievement goals.
  • MAY PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
