Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring MTS Software Development Engineers to Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Plan, design, develop and/or test software systems for software enhancements and new products. Develop mathematical representations to reinterpret and simplify tensor operations, implement infrastructure for new programming paradigms in high level language, and reduce kernel development complexity. Work with AI compiler develops to implement programming paradigm and automate high-performance kernels. Set operational specifications and formulate and/or analyze software requirements. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance such as implementation of algorithms in AMD GCN assembly language. Solve critical system/software issues and work with engineering AMD's open-source GPU compute SW stack (ROCm). Develop commercial applications on Microsoft Platforms. Participate in code reviews, creating unit tests, authoring detailed documentation related to your work, and working with on-site and offshore teams to deliver the software solutions on schedule. Partake in all phases of the software development including system requirement documentation, analysis, coordinating feature design and development across functional and organization boundaries. Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.   • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering/software development role.
  • Alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering/software development role.
  • Two (2) years of experience in object-oriented programming in C, C++, C#, Perl, or Python.
  • Experience in modern concurrent programming and threading APIs.
  • Experience in Unix, Linux, or Windows environments.
  • Utilizing software development tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub), or Profilers.
  • Database design using SQL Server or Oracle.
  • Experience with server systems.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience with GNU toolchain.
  • Knowledge of data structures.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud and DevOps/CI/CD and AI tools.
