About The Position

The MTS 2, Software Engineer position at eBay involves maintaining and supporting the availability of eBay's fulltext search and analysis platform, utilizing Elasticsearch and OpenSearch clusters. Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
• Experience with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch core (3 years).
• Experience with ELKB (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana and Beats) technical stack (3 years).
• Experience with OpenSearch technical stack and community (3 years).
• Experience designing and developing platform control plane using Java and Python (3 years).
• Experience designing and developing platform data plane (3 years).
• Experience with Kubernetes technology stack (3 years).
• Experience designing and developing high availability systems (3 years).
• Experience designing and developing autoscaling and security systems (3 years).
• Experience with automation and workflow engines like Airflow (3 years).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support the availability of eBay's fulltext search and analysis platform.
• Serve as the technical lead and main contributor for both the control plane and data plane of the platform.
• Ensure platform PDMR (provisioning/deployment/monitoring/remediation) readiness for all supported environments.
• Build platform self-service capabilities and DevOps tools to improve automation and reduce manual effort.
• Design and implement blueprints for Elasticsearch and OpenSearch deployments considering availability, scalability, security, and performance requirements.
• Troubleshoot Elasticsearch/OpenSearch cluster issues and perform performance tuning.
