Implements accounting policies and procedures for new and existing products and initiatives within MTEFC (M&T Equipment Finance Corporation). Researches and implements new accounting standards. Primary Responsibilities: Establish, review and consult on accounting procedures and policies for various areas of MTEFC to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting, internal controls, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Review and implement new accounting standards and guidelines issued by Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to ensure continued business compliance with them. Issue all new ledger accounts for MTEFC and its subsidiaries to ensure appropriate financial statement classification. Analyze account balances and serve as primary internal resource on issues related to recording and reporting of transactions. Provide advice and guidance to senior management on preparing annual and interim report disclosures related to critical accounting policies and newly issued accounting standards to ensure they are prepared in a timely manner. Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Complete other related duties as assigned.
